I dont know about you, but here in Victoria, after 190 days in isolation, restriction and lockdown; after 190 days of constant talk of covid numbers, infections, deaths, masks, people breaching restrictions, and ALL of the CRAZY that has been the majority of 2020 - it is time to SHIFT the FOCUS.
I popped out yesterday, as the afternoon began to wane and the once cool day gave way to warm breeze and gentle sun, and I headed out to my favourite beach, took a stance outside the surf club and took in the sites and sounds of the warm spring day. I breathed in that salty sea air and felt all my worries fade into the background as the light hearted chatter of little grommets (young surfers) and their mums echoed off the salt encrusted walls of the club rooms and the waves crashed noisily and carelessly onto the sand.
Sometimes in the busy lives that we lead, between the responsibilities of work and home, parenting or studies, we can forget to make time for the things that really make us HAPPY. Those things that BREATHE LIFE
Like attending to the garden/ planting seedlings and watching them grow
Sharing a coffee and food with friends
Walking alone on the beach
Listening to beautiful music
Those are some of the things I love to do.
What I love to do most and haven't made enough time for or pushed myself to do is to walk along the beach, alone, breathing in the fresh coastal air, allowing my thoughts to align, dreaming of future and enjoying right now. No interruptions. Allowing my mind and heart to wander. Filling my soul.
What do you do to fill your soul?
It does not matter how physically fit our bodies are if we do not have tranquility, peace, and harmony within our souls.
Healthy soul foods include - gratitude, appreciation, self love and love of others, laughter, joy.
Unhealthy foods - self doubt, judgement, fear, anticipation, anger, hatred and shame.
Start to practice some good soul filling exercises and healthy soul food and see how much better you begin to feel.
